Information
The Cornucopia Hotel is located in the quiet town of Xaghra on the northeast of Gozo and is situated on a high ridge boasting panoramic views of the beautiful Xaghra valley.
Gozo is Malta’s sister island and lies just off the northern coast. Quieter and more rural than the larger Malta, Gozo brings visitors back to a time when life was just that little bit slower and taking things easy was more important than thinking about tomorrow. Victoria is the capital city of Gozo and is the only locality on the island where the pace of life may resemble that found on Malta. The small villages which are dotted around the island offer a unique insight into Gozo of years gone by where homeowners happily leave their house keys in the door while they pop to the grocer.
Located high on a ridge overlooking Xaghra valley stands the Cornucopia. This 4* Hotel was created from an old converted farmhouse and many of the original features can be seen in the design of the hotel. The Hotel is on the outskirts of the tranquil village of Xaghra and offers the ultimate in peace.
Getting around Gozo can be a little tricky as many of the most popular sites of this wonderful island are quite spread out and finding all of them can be a challenge. A period of car rental on Gozo is the ideal way to see the island and getting lost is all part of the fun. All roads, however, lead to Victoria, so nobody stays lost for very long.

The intimate restaurant at the Cornucopia Hotel is characterized by the traditionally rustic décor and includes many features from the original building. Stone arches designed and fashioned from local Gozo limestone add a unique touch to the ambience.
The hotel serves a mixture of Mediterranean and continental cuisines whilst many local specialities of Gozo are included in the daily menus.
Marsalforrn is the nearest seaport to Xaghra and there is a connecting road between the two villages. Some of the finest examples of local fish restaurants can be found in Marsalforrn, so a visit to this town is recommended during your Gozo vacation.

Gozo is renowned as the mythical island of Calypso, who drew Homer's hero Ulysses to its shores for a seven-year hiatus. Though there are only five kilometres of sea between Malta and Gozo, the islands are distinctly different from each other. Gozo is a third of the size of Malta, more rural and tranquil, greener, less bustling but still full of life. While authentic houses of character have been renovated to suit the most exigent contemporary clients are the speciality of Gozo, the Island also has luxurious hotels. The size and natural setting of the island conspire to make it a prime location for high-powered board meetings, small conferences, workshops and incentives. Gozo is a must-visit location. It is almost always included in leisure-time arrangements. It is particularly renowned for active day tours and outdoor events. Moreover, the Island is a conference and incentive destination in its own right, and has the facilities to prove it.

The famous temples of Ggantija are the world’s oldest free-standing temples and are located in the village of Xaghra just 2 Km from the Cornucopia hotel. The largest bay on Gozo and one of the best swimming locations in all of the Maltese islands are called Ramla bay and are only a short drive from Xaghra. Overlooking Ramla Bay is Calypso’s cave. Visitors can climb down into the cave for panoramic views over the bay.

Eco Tax on Accommodation
The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the implementation of the Eco Tax on Accommodation will become effective on 1st April 2016 (effective date) and will be applicable for all adult guests staying in hotels and other hosted accommodation.
The tax will be €0.50 per adult per night, capped at a maximum of €5.00 per adult per stay.
The tax will be collected directly by the accommodation service provider prior to check out and remitted to Government.
The tax also applies to any accommodation that was reserved before the announcement of the Eco Tax but which will be availed of on or after the effective date. It is our understanding that any reservations that overlap the effective date will be subject to the tax for the portion of the reservation after the effective date.
