Information

The Ta Sbejha Apartments are located in the quiet village of Gharb which is situated close to the North West coast of Gozo. The locality of Gharb is one of Gozo's most tranquil villages with a small and traditional town square. 



The island of Gozo, Malta’s sister island is located only 20 minutes away from the mainland and is reached by crossing between the two islands on the Gozo ferry. Once on Gozo the difference between the two islands is instantly recognizable. Gozo is much smaller and much quieter than its bigger neighbour and the pace of life on this tiny island very much resembles how things were in bygone ages. The island enjoys a reputation for being laid back and visitors to Gozo enjoy the gentle pace and relaxed atmosphere that is different from on Malta.

The Ta Sbejha complex is built around a concept of self catering units all of which are one bedroom apartments sleeping up to a maximum of 3 persons. The complex itself has a central pool area and extensive sun terraces to ensure a relaxing stay. The Apartments are only a short walk from the village square where it is possible to find local busses to Victoria.

Although Gozo is only small and the pace of life is not rushed, getting around the island can sometimes prove to be rather difficult as the bus services are not as regular as they are on Malta. Many of the most popular sites for visiting are also rather remote and buses do not generally reach these corners of the island. A period of car hire is recommended for really exploring the island as Gozo also boasts some of the best swimming bays and inlets anywhere on the Maltese islands. Getting around Gozo on bicycles is also very popular and these can be rented from most villages.

The complex of Ta Sbejha is built around a large central pool area which includes extensive sun terraces providing enough sun beds and sun umbrellas to cater for all guests of the complex. The complex is set in a garden theme and is adorned with numerous plants and palm trees.

The atmosphere of the complex has been designed for total relaxation and tranquility and so therefore the hotel does not offer a range of leisure facilities such as fitness rooms or health centres. Such facilities are within easy reach of Ta Sbejha and guests who choose to rent a car during their time at the complex will find that there is lots of available parking spaces around the complex.

The Ta Sbejha Apartments are located in a quiet country lane in the village of Gharb and the whole complex is comprised of one bedroom self catering units sleeping up to a maximum of three persons. Each of the Apartments are with their own private balcony or terrace and are equipped to ensure that residents are as comfortable as possible during their stay. 

The décor of each Apartment has been designed in a typical Gozo setting and features natural Maltese stone and simple furnishings. There is a fully equipped kitchen with each apartment and adequate dining space for the size of each unit. Maltese stone and tiled flooring keep the apartments naturally cool during the summer months and therefore air conditioning is not such a requirement on Gozo as it is on Malta, although each Apartment has ceiling fans and stand up fans in each room.

The Ta Sbejha complex does not have its own restaurant however Gozo is very popular for its local restaurants serving a selection of traditional Gozitan and International cuisines. Restaurants in the coastal villages such as Xlendi or Marsalforn specialize in serving some of the finest fish dishes caught in the Mediterranean. Restaurants that are particularly recommended for their fine cuisine are ‘Ta Frenc’ or ‘Il Mina’.

Gozo is renowned as the mythical island of Calypso, who drew Homer's hero Ulysses to its shores for a seven-year hiatus. Though there are only five kilometres of sea between Malta and Gozo, the islands are distinctly different from each other. Gozo is a third of the size of Malta, more rural and tranquil, greener, less bustling but still full of life. While authentic houses of character have been renovated to suit the most exigent contemporary clients are the speciality of Gozo, the Island also has luxurious hotels. The size and natural setting of the island conspire to make it a prime location for high-powered board meetings, small conferences, workshops and incentives. Gozo is a must-visit location. It is almost always included in leisure-time arrangements. It is particularly renowned for active day tours and outdoor events. Moreover, the Island is a conference and incentive destination in its own right, and has the facilities to prove it.

The village of Gharb is a traditionally quiet Gozitan locality and the Ta Sbejha apartments are situated a few minutes walk from the town square. Guests who wish to enjoy the island to its full potential are recommended to consider a period of car hire or even mountain bike hire. The apartments are a short drive from the locality of Dwejra, home to the famous ‘Azure window’ and ‘Inland sea’. Boat trips can be taken around the coast to see the corals by the window. Ramla Bay is Gozo’s largest beach and is watched over by ‘Calypso’s’ cave.

Eco Tax on Accommodation

The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the implementation of the Eco Tax on Accommodation will become effective on 1st April 2016 (effective date) and will be applicable for all adult guests staying in hotels and other hosted accommodation.
 
The tax will be €0.50 per adult per night, capped at a maximum of €5.00 per adult per stay.
 
The tax will be collected directly by the accommodation service provider prior to check out and remitted to Government.
  
The tax also applies to any accommodation that was reserved before the announcement of the Eco Tax but which will be availed of on or after the effective date. It is our understanding that any reservations that overlap the effective date will be subject to the tax for the portion of the reservation after the effective date.
