Information
Gozo Houses of Character are typical Gozitan ‘Farmhouses’ which are located in various villages spread around the island and range from two bedroom to three bedroom properties.
The island of Gozo, Malta’s sister island is located only 20 minutes away from the mainland and is reached by crossing between the two islands on the Gozo ferry. Once on Gozo the difference between the two islands is instantly recognizable. Gozo is much smaller and much quieter than its bigger neighbour and the pace of life on this tiny island very much resembles how things were in bygone ages. The island enjoys a reputation for being laid back and visitors to Gozo enjoy the gentle pace and relaxed atmosphere that is different from on Malta.
Gozo Houses are a generic type of property meaning that guests do not generally book a specific house name or a particular locality, rather the customer will book a house with either two or three bedrooms and the name and location of the house is advised on or just before arrival. For guests who have a particular requirement with regards to a location, this can be requested in advance. Gozo Village Houses are routinely difficult to locate on arrival as they are often hidden down country lanes or within the village itself. It is therefore recommended that a transfer is at least booked on arrival so that the guest can be brought direct to the house from the port.
Although Gozo is only small and the pace of life is not rushed, getting around the island can sometimes prove to be rather difficult as the bus services are not as regular as they are on Malta. Many of the most popular sites for visiting are also rather remote and buses do not generally reach these corners of the island. A period of car hire is recommended for really exploring the island as Gozo also boasts some of the best swimming bays and inlets anywhere on the Maltese islands.

Property Amenities
Gozo Houses of Character are really old Gozitan farmhouses that have been renovated and converted into holiday accommodation for visitors to Gozo. The houses are usually built around a traditional courtyard and most of them include a private pool for the guests. Sun beds and sun shades will be provided in the house for the number of guests who will be staying there. Most houses have a BBQ area next to the pool area, whilst a fully equipped kitchen and dining area is standard in all houses.
Although most of the Houses are usually located within a village atmosphere, there are a large number of houses which are situated on the outskirts of villages and can therefore command views of the Gozitan countryside. It is not possible to generally book a house by name, although guests who wish to request a specific village or location can do so in advance. Such requests are generally adhered to as much as possible.

Rooms
The décor and design of Gozo Houses of Character are usually kept within the traditional atmosphere of the country house that it originally was. The walls and the floors of the house will be kept with the stone feel of how it was originally built. The Malta stone is famed for keeping cool during the hot summer months and therefore unlike modern hotels, these properties do not require air conditioning to keep cool during the day. Each of the rooms however will be equipped with a ceiling fan to keep the property especially cool for the guests.
Each of the houses has a private balcony and sun terracing to ensure that residents are as comfortable as possible during their stay.
*1st cot provided in the house is free of charge. 2nd Cot and highchairs are available at €5.00 per day.

Dining
Gozo is very popular for its number of local restaurants serving a selection of traditional Gozitan and Maltese dishes. The Gozitans are also very proud in how the food is served and visitors to the island will enjoy the ‘large’ servings which are traditional in most Gozo restaurants. The dining options around the coastal regions of Gozo such as Xlendi or Marsalforn are specialized in serving some of the finest fish dishes caught in the Mediterranean. Restaurants that are particularly recommended for their fine cuisine are ‘Ta Frenc’ or ‘Il Mina’.

Points of Interest
Gozo is renowned as the mythical island of Calypso, who drew Homer's hero Ulysses to its shores for a seven-year hiatus. Though there are only five kilometres of sea between Malta and Gozo, the islands are distinctly different from each other. Gozo is a third of the size of Malta, more rural and tranquil, greener, less bustling but still full of life. While authentic houses of character have been renovated to suit the most exigent contemporary clients are the speciality of Gozo, the Island also has luxurious hotels. The size and natural setting of the island conspire to make it a prime location for high-powered board meetings, small conferences, workshops and incentives. Gozo is a must-visit location. It is almost always included in leisure-time arrangements. It is particularly renowned for active day tours and outdoor events. Moreover, the Island is a conference and incentive destination in its own right, and has the facilities to prove it.

Most villages on Gozo are small and friendly although a number can be quite remote from the main centres on Gozo. This provides a level of privacy for guests, however it also means that guests who do like to enjoy the island to its full potential are recommended to consider a period of car hire. Most of the popular visiting sites are quite spread out over Gozo, therefore most villages are within easy reach of these popular attractions. The most famous of the sites on Gozo is the Azure window and Inland Sea. Boat trips can be taken around the coast to see the corals by the window. Ramla Bay is Gozo’s largest beach and is watched over by Calypso’s Cave.
