The island of Gozo, Malta’s sister island is located only 20 minutes away from the mainland and is reached by crossing between the two islands on the Gozo ferry. Once on Gozo, the difference between the two islands is instantly recognizable. Gozo is much smaller and much quieter than its bigger neighbour and the pace of life on this tiny island very much resembles how things were in bygone ages. The island enjoys a reputation for being laid back and visitors to Gozo enjoy the gentle pace and relaxed atmosphere that is different from on Malta.
The Kempinski San Lawrenz Resort is much more than simply a hideaway resort. The Hotel has been specially built to blend in with the surrounding village and the yellow limestone is a particular feature at this exclusive hotel. The Resort is located on the outskirts of the tiny village of San Lawrenz and enjoys wonderful views of the Gozo countryside. Although Gozo is only a small island, getting around can sometimes be a little tricky as many of the most popular sites are spread out and finding all of them can be a challenge. A period of car rental on Gozo is the ideal way to see the island and getting lost is all part of the fun.

The Kempinski Resort boasts two outdoor pools which are strictly for adults only and a family pool for guests with children. A large indoor centre comprising of an indoor pool jetted tub, and steam baths are also available throughout the day.
The spa at the Kempinski Resort has been voted one of the top ten in Europe and guests can experience a variety of body and soul treatments including Ayurveda, Marine and herbal care, massages, Balneo baths and Vichy water showers. Beauty treatments such as facials with marine masks and eye contour treatment, manicure and pedicure are also available. Children between the age of 3 and 12 can join the hotel’s Kids Club run by professional trainers who organise a wide range of activities both indoors and outdoors. The club operates daily between 10:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00 and is free for the guests
The Hotel has two floodlit tennis courts and two squash courts for the active guest. The use of these facilities is free of charge to guests of the hotel.

The Kempinski Resort combines traditional formal dining at the L’Ortolan restaurant or informal dining at the ‘Trattoria San Lawrenz’. Each restaurant offers an excellent choice of Mediterranean and Maltese cuisine. The Hotel has its own gardens and much of the produce used is picked fresh for daily use.
The Resort also creates special dietary meals to complement specific spa or wellness programmes. These menus can be requested before arrival or locally in resort.
The Gazebo is located next to the pool with magnificent garden views and offers light snacks and lunches, or BBQ’s during the warm summer evenings.
Child meals for 0-5 years. Free of charge of breakfast basis. Other meals are payable directly at the hotel on consumption.
New Year's Eve Gala dinner - children are not permitted to attend this event. Children's animation is organised on this evening for children.
Points of Interest
Gozo is renowned as the mythical island of Calypso, who drew Homer's hero Ulysses to its shores for a seven-year hiatus. Though there are only five kilometres of sea between Malta and Gozo, the islands are distinctly different from each other. Gozo is a third of the size of Malta, more rural and tranquil, greener, less bustling but still full of life. While authentic houses of character have been renovated to suit the most exigent contemporary clients are the speciality of Gozo, the Island also has luxurious hotels. The size and natural setting of the island conspire to make it a prime location for high-powered board meetings, small conferences, workshops and incentives. Gozo is a must-visit location. It is almost always included in leisure-time arrangements. It is particularly renowned for active day tours and outdoor events. Moreover, the Island is a conference and incentive destination in its own right, and has the facilities to prove it.

The village of San Lawrenz, like most villages on Gozo is small and friendly although it can be quite remote from the main centres and popular sites on Gozo. This provides plenty of privacy for guests, however, it also means that guests who do like to enjoy the island to its full potential are recommended to consider a period of car hire. The most famous of the sites on Gozo is the ‘Azure Window’ and ‘Inland sea’ which is only a short distance from the Kempinski resort. Boat trips can be taken around the coast to see the corals by the window. Ramla Bay is Gozo’s largest beach and is watched over by ‘Calypso’s’ cave.

The Hammam
The traditional Hammam is a heated steam room where people tend to go on a weekly basis to meet their friends, catch up on the gossip and come out glowing. The combination of heat, exfoliating gloves, black soap and clays makes for a deep soothing cleanse and a relaxing experience. The Kempinski The Spa offers the following Hammam choices.
Classic Morrocan Hammam
This classic treatment consists of a full body cleanse using a Kessa mitt and Moroccan Black soap. A wrap, using eucalyptus scented ‘Rassoul’ clay is then applied to the whole body and a rose scented clay mask is used on the face. You will feel so refreshed afterwards. 45 minutes
Royal Hammam
The Royal treatment starts with a scrub from head to toe. The body is then wrapped in a nourishing ‘Rassoul’ clay and while it does it’s work, the scalp is massaged. And to finish off, a relaxing massage. 120 minutes
The Rasul
The Rasul cleansing will leave you pure and calm and your skin beautifully exfoliated. 30 minutes
Oriental Hammam
We begin with a vigorous scrubbing to cleanse, followed by a foam massage using long strokes and various stretching movements. Refreshing and cleansing. 45 minutes

Eco Tax on Accommodation
The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the implementation of the Eco Tax on Accommodation will become effective on 1st April 2016 (effective date) and will be applicable for all adult guests staying in hotels and other hosted accommodation.
The tax will be €0.50 per adult per night, capped at a maximum of €5.00 per adult per stay.
The tax will be collected directly by the accommodation service provider prior to check out and remitted to Government.
The tax also applies to any accommodation that was reserved before the announcement of the Eco Tax but which will be availed of on or after the effective date. It is our understanding that any reservations that overlap the effective date will be subject to the tax for the portion of the reservation after the effective date.
