The Carlton Hotel in Sliema is a newly refurbished modern value boutique hotel, situated on the popular Tower Road seafront promenade of Sliema. Lying directly across from Sliema’s only small sandy beach, the hotel sits perfectly between the lovely 3km stretch of rocky beaches and promenades, with cafes, restaurants and local ‘gabbanas’ found along the way. The Hotel is a short walk from Malta’s popular commercial centre of Sliema and only 10 minutes from the busy nightlife resort of Paceville. The breakfast room is located in the 7th floor and commands 180° views of the 3 Km promenade and rocky beaches. Breakfast is of an upgraded continental buffet type.
Points of Interest
Sliema is one of Malta's main coastal resort towns and a heartland for shopping, entertainment and café life. The long stretch of rocky coastline that goes from Qui-si-Sana all the way to St. Julian's is thronged with sunbathers during the peak summer months.
Steps and handrails placed every so often allow easy access to the water. There are plenty of flat rocks to spread a towel on. The sea here is deep and generally clean, clear and safe to swim. It is also excellent for snorkelling. Some hotels along the front, especially at the St. Julian's end, provide beach concessions equipped with pools, water sports and lido areas for nightlife. The favourite beach areas are the Tigné area, Qui si-Sana, Għar id-Dud, the Exiles and Fond Għadir. Some are well-known lidos or beach clubs with public access.
In peak summer the Sliema beaches become a very sociable, lively place to be by mid-afternoon. The promenade is excellent for long, striding walks in winter, slow strolls on summer evenings and for watching the spectacular waves during freak autumn storms. You will find plenty of snack bars and restaurants on the coast road and kiosks near the shoreline.

Eco Tax on Accommodation
The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the implementation of the Eco Tax on Accommodation will become effective on 1st April 2016 (effective date) and will be applicable for all adult guests staying in hotels and other hosted accommodation.
The tax will be €0.50 per adult per night, capped at a maximum of €5.00 per adult per stay.
The tax will be collected directly by the accommodation service provider prior to check out and remitted to Government.
The tax also applies to any accommodation that was reserved before the announcement of the Eco Tax but which will be availed of on or after the effective date. It is our understanding that any reservations that overlap the effective date will be subject to the tax for the portion of the reservation after the effective date.
