The main street of Malta’s most northerly village of Mellieha is a popular venue for many excellent restaurants and comfortable bars. Lots of visitors come to Mellieha from different areas to sample the excellent choices available.
The Solana is perfectly positioned right in the heart of the village and this guarantees that guests of the hotel don’t have far to go to find the best eating and drinking places that Mellieha has to offer.
The largest bay in Malta is only 1km from the hotel, so guests can take a local bus from next to the hotel and be on the sand in 5 minutes. Exploring Malta is easy from Mellieha as local buses to Valletta pass directly next to the hotel.

Great for after-work drinks and lunch meetings. Solana greets all guests with a welcome drink when they arrive. Whether it’s a quick meeting with a colleague or a casual catch-up with a friend, we’ve redesigned the lobby into a welcoming place for people to get together. The artful lamps turn the lobby into a stylish cafe. So go ahead and order an espresso or spritz from the lobby bar and make yourself cosy on one of the plush sofas. The bar serves light refreshments and snacks during the day and pre-dinner cocktails and nightcaps in the evening. Make this your first and last stop at Solana.
Bellini Restaurant
The best choice for large parties and events. The main restaurant is also our guests’ favourite restaurant for social events and conferences. The well-lit, buffet-style venue seats 160 people as well as an additional 50 on the outdoor terrace. Outdoor diners have the chance to enjoy a spectacular view over the valley. In the morning, hotel guests are treated to a full continental and English breakfast. In the evening, Bellini serves themed dinners that change daily. The restaurant also serves lunch when required, and can specifically cater to your special event. We want all our guests to have the option of enjoying Bellini, which is why we made it fully accessible for all levels of mobility (including WCs) and we also have a play area for kids.
Tosca Restaurant
All your Italian favourites. If you love authentic Italian food, you’ll love Tosca. This award-winning restaurant serves all the Italian classics, plus daily specialities and fresh seafood. Open in the evenings, you can wine and dine inside or on the veranda. Escape the city and enjoy cocktails in style at the Top Deck.
When the weather gets warm, we’re delighted to open the poolside bar. Located right next to the rooftop pool, the pool bar serves cocktails, aperitifs, and nightcaps. Solana’s rooftop, an oasis in the centre of Mellieħa village, is Malta’s best kept hidden gem. Here you’ll be elevated from the hustle and bustle of the village streets, whether you’re floating in the pool or lounging on the terrace under an umbrella.

Points of Interest
Mellieha was once an isolated 15th-century hamlet perched on the ridge overlooking Ghadira Bay. Re-inhabited in the early 18th century, it has since developed into a flourishing town though it retains a quaint historic centre with narrow streets and stepped alleys. From the terrace of the Parish Church, there is a panoramic view over Mellieha Bay and the surrounding countryside. Mellieha today is a modern town noted for its large private villas and houses which have been built on land overlooking the bay. While the town has developed into a resort, it has managed to retain some of its rural characters.

Sauna
The Sauna at Nataraya can be used as a means of calming the body and relieving stress and is well known for its many health benefits. For those new to the experience, our sauna is a dry heat that’s best enjoyed between 70-90 degrees., humidity in the dry sauna is set less than 5%. This type of heat increases the body's core temperature. Sweating is encouraged which releases impurities from the skin and pores.
Chromotherapy Hydro Bath
Chromotherapy (or colour therapy as it’s often called) involves the use of colour and light to stimulate wellbeing. Different colours and shades have varying wavelengths and significance. Eco Tax on Accommodation
The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the implementation of the Eco Tax on Accommodation will become effective on 1st April 2016 (effective date) and will be applicable for all adult guests staying in hotels and other hosted accommodation.
The tax will be €0.50 per adult per night, capped at a maximum of €5.00 per adult per stay.
The tax will be collected directly by the accommodation service provider prior to check out and remitted to Government.
The tax also applies to any accommodation that was reserved before the announcement of the Eco Tax but which will be availed of on or after the effective date. It is our understanding that any reservations that overlap the effective date will be subject to the tax for the portion of the reservation after the effective date.
